About Barry

With a mission to bring innovation and musical integrity into the world of advertising, Sound Advantage was created in 1993 by Barry Volk, producer/staff songwriter for ABC/Universal & EMI Music Publishing, a 20th Century Fox solo recording artist, West Coast Theater Company Musical Director and National Director of Marketing for Metro Networks (Westwood One). In 1985, Volk worked with British producer Gus Dudgeon (Elton John, Stones & David Bowie) and published songs with him via Dick James Music in England and HEC Horipro in Nashville. Barry attended a series of exclusive writing seminars with Oscar winning Lyricists Alan & Marilyn Bergman (The Way We Were) and studied the art of the jingle with “Fly the Friendly Skies of United” creator Al Kasha, recipient of two “Best Song” Oscars.
